Student Government and Why You Should Consider It – Teen Topic

If you really want to learn leadership, as a teen or young adult you really should consider student government classes, or running for an office at your school. It is a great way to get introduced to the workings of government, and politics, and that which you learn will serve you in later life. Not to mention that it will look good on your college resume. All of these types of classes are a little bit different, and yet, in a way they are all the same.

Not long ago, I met a superintendent of public instruction for a large school district. In the early 1960s while he was still a teacher, he was put in charge of the student government for the school as the advisor. He decided that the students needed to have their own class and it would be elective. If a student was to get elected to the student council, they could take this class where all the other student leadership government members would meet every day.

Today, almost all junior high schools, and high schools have a these school government class. Some of them meet at lunch once a week, but most are full-fledged classes and come with a grade. If you become more in your life when you grow up; I’d recommend getting involved and running for an office at your school.

Indeed, I was class president of my high school, and I learned a lot. Our class had a budget, and we had fundraisers to raise revenue, and we put on events and we always balanced our budget. Please consider all this.
